SSAC-B 1-0 Elite FC

During the Sunday (25th April'10) noon fixture SSAC-B started with: Sashi pandey(GK), Sankalp menon(RB), Kartik iyer(RCB), Tushar patel(LCB), John D’souza(LB), Robin(RM), Dinesh(RCM), Tinkle jojoi(CM), Makarand sahasrabudhe(LCM), Akash rajput(LM), Pratik Ramteke(st).

Subs: Manoj, Teby, Mohit.

FIRST HALF: Elite fc started the proceedings. They maintained good possession at the beginning but SSAC stoppers, kartik and tushar were upto their tasks. Sashi had to be conscious for the first 5 minutes. But then SSAC pulled up their socks and started their attack. Makarand sahasrabudhe made in some good moves with Akash and twice struck the post from the left side of the pitch even though those shots didn’t look as a threat. Pratik pulled a ground shot just wide at the 10^th minute.

Penalty for SSAC-B: Some good passing by Makarand, Tinkle and Dinesh saw pratik receiving the ball and who was fouled inside the penalty box. The penalty was rightly given to SSAC. Robin took the penalty and put it in the corner of the net to make it 1-0.The confidence of the SSAC players were high as the teams went in at half time.

SECOND HALF: No changes were made at halftime. SSAC looked confident at the beginning the LB John did a fabulous job to keep their defence busy with continuously making some good moves on the left side combining with akash and makarand. The real chance for SSAC came in the 5^th minute of the half when some good play down the right from sankalp to feed robin who crossed into the box to find akash free. Akash got two chances the first one was blocked by their stopper and the rebounced chance was saved by the goalkeeper. Tinkle and dinesh were replaced by manoj and teby with 10 mins to go. SSAC had a good shout for penalty wen manoj’s through ball was handed by Elite’s stopper. But the referee declined it this time. John was a regular threat from the left side. A small mistake from goalkeeper resulted in a indirect free kick to Elite Fc from inside the box. But Kartik and Tushar did well again to clear the lines. With 5 mins to go because of some unsporting behaviour by Sankalp, he was substituted by the coach and replaced by Mohit. Even in the last 5 mins SSAC were looking for a goal to settle the tie.

FULL TIME: It was a great after noon for SSAC-B guys as they registered a great win against ELITE fc in the league. Elite FC came into this match; placed 3^rd in the league were up and running against SSAC who were 9^th. A great win for SSAC-B which they deserved. They were good in all positions. Especially defence was good, which gave them a clean sheet in a must win game against ELITE FC.
